Glenstrae

A new modern contemporary family home of 290m2, situated on the Redcliffe’s hillside with overlooking panoramic views of the estuary and City of Christchurch. Consisting of 4 beds, 3 bath, 2 living over two stories, contained between the minimal floating terraced pavilion roof forms, the house cascades its way down the hillside to the family pool area. Between these roof tiers the majority of the house is cladded in a combination of a soft textured rendered plaster cladding system and contrasting vertical blue stone cladded walls, cut into the hillside anchoring the house on site. The vast number of glazed corners and area of openings in the facade create the impression the low-pitched pavilion roof forms are floating, attributing to the terraced architectural aesthetic of the home. The vast areas of glazing are specifically located to capture the optimum views on offer whilst maintaining a private lifestyle. All main living areas and the more private main suite and ensuite all get a piece of the pie with outstanding panoramic views of the city beyond.

This family home was not only intended to impress visually but functionally also. The outdoor living, sheltered with the operable louvre roof overhead provides the ideal setting and atmosphere for a good night/day with family and friends. And for the colder nights spent inside a ducted fire system throughout the home insures the home is constantly and evenly heated and warm all year round.
