Since 1992, Boyd Chamberlain Architecture, a boutique architectural practice, based in Christchurch / Otautahi, New Zealand / Aotearoa, has been designing award-winning homes and commercial spaces.

We are a vastly experienced, diverse, and personable team that is proactively driven with the common mindset to improve the architecture of New Zealand one space at a time. We strive to create inspirational, timelessly elegant architecture that is designed for you and your way of living. With a focus on bettering our natural and built environment, by applying our experienced knowledge of modern energy-efficient and sustainable design practices and qualities to our architectural designs where applicable. Designs inspired by your lifestyle

There are plans, and then there are plans. Our architectural designs leave nothing to chance. We’ll show you we’ve considered where your favourite artwork or pool table will go, and we’ll answer all of your council’s questions to ease through each stage in the consenting process.

The key to understanding your lifestyle is understanding you. Our architectural team is not defined by any one style. Instead, we listen to your ideas and design a home with you at the centre. From castles to container homes, a modern design or Georgian-inspired, Boyd Chamberlain Architecture can design a home with merit you’ll love.

A collaborative design process

Incorporating your feedback from our conceptual ideas, we’ll convert the architectural designs into a 3D computer generated model, so you can get a feel for walking through and around your home. We’ll test the design against your budget, work out the costs, and check feasibility to make sure there’s nothing standing in the way of your new home.

We can work with your builder to make sure everyone understands you and your plan, or if you don’t have a builder already, we can recommend one we think will align with your vision.

Even after we’ve obtained consents and councils have approved your building plans, we stay involved with your build. During the construction process Boyd Chamberlain Architecture will visit the site, support your builder and key tradespeople to make sure everything goes according to plan.

Efficient Focus

When your home is one of your biggest investments, you want it to be future-proofed for the years ahead. Energy efficiency and ‘healthy home’ ideas are at the forefront of all of our design decisions.

By recommending energy efficient building materials or passive design ideas, you can enjoy a home that’s cost-effective and more sustainable to run. Our team is constantly upskilling, studying new building materials, and evaluating energy efficient products. Energy efficiency doesn’t have to mean your construction method is costly or bespoke. There is more than one way to create a sustainable home, and you can rely on our experience to get there.
